BIBLE WORDS
"In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight." ( Luke 10:21)
"I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind." (John9:39)
I think that God has in a way deliberately made His word confusing, at least to those read it without the benefit of a personal relationship with it's author the Holy Spirit. Many translations and bible versions may intimidate and confuse people, but God from the beginning took actions to make it clear to men that He alone is all-knowing and men professing themselves to be wise become fools. In the story of the tower of babel men were getting too smart for their own good and God confused their language to bring them "back down to earth".
I believe God allowed His word to be amazing and wonderful to His children while at the same time confusing to those who stumble in their arrogance.
Words like hate, love, kill, hell, son and others are translated from more than one root meaning in different contexts.
This drives many of us crazy in our modern day thinking because we want everything to be immediately understood at first glance.
The Studious Christian learns to feast on constant discovery of an endless uncloaking and unraveling of bible language.
The Christian and non-Christian therefor are distinguished, among other things, by the depth of their bible knowledge.
I believe it's the Spirit-led heart for God that makes a person hunger for His word as Holy Job did, and "Christians" who don't possess it, have only a surface appearance of Christianity.
Ever notice how that Jesus's words always had an element of challenge in them?....
I'm thinking at times if they said.."Master,..how feelest thou today?"
He would not necessarily have said to them.."You ask about feelings, but knowest not why God gavest man feelings from creation?"
He must have once in a while just said .."I feelest fine, thank ye for asking" ......Holy Spirit inspired accounts in scripture nearly always have Jesus answering questions in some kind of thought provoking riddle, no doubt because He was constantly concerned with the more vital issues of our hearts and used every opportunity we gave Him to draw our focus onto His wisdom and love.
We are challenged to explore the Spiritual underguirdings of words which some people cannot handle and are frustrated by, as those who heard Jesus say.."unless you eat of my flesh and drink of my blood...." were, and gave up following Him.
Or take the verse.."The whole need not a physician.."
Could He be just saying.."When it ain't broke we don't fix it"?, or is He maybe saying "Those who do not recognise their need will not come forward for help." In either case it's for certain there isn't a soul on the planet who is completely whole physically or Spiritually. When the pharisees murmured thinking they were more deserving of attention, I'm fairly sure Jesus didn't see them as whole.
He wants us to look DEEPER. WE can do it. You can DO it
